Virtually everyone covered North Korea’s media outlet Uriminzokkiri (“on our own as a nation”) joining Twitter and Facebook last week. The news outlet is one of the few news outlets which writes in English for a foreign audience. As of this writing, the North Korean spokesmouth organization has collected 10,000 followers at the on the @uriminzok account. If you’re inclined to “Like” the North Korean Facebook account or perhaps send them a friendly missive on Facebook, you can find them on the page named Uriminzokkiri. While you’re there, you may want to glance over the wall posts, which shower the hermit kingdom with an outpouring of emotion. Some of the wall posts are quite moving to say the least.
One hilarious quirk to the Facebook page though has been thus far – it turns out North Korea’s coming out is in fact a .. coming out. Here’s the original page below – see if you can spot what I’m talking about:
Wonkette points out the page originally contained a number of additional informative updates, including sex listed as male, and “interested in” listed as… male.
