#SFRiot Covered Online, Media Fails Again

The Giants, San Francisco’s baseball team, won the World Series earlier this evening. It’s taken little time for the city’s normally tranquil inhabitants to go from spirited cavorting to rowdy and dangerous rioting. Here’s hoping everyone is ok.   From Techcrunch:

“The San Francisco Giants won the World Series earlier this evening and of course the celebration in San Francisco has at this point devolved into multiple riots, which you can now follow on Twitter through the hashtags #SFRiot and #SFScanner. About a hundred or so people have checked into the (mayorless) riot on Foursquare at the venue “Giants Riot on Polk Street” and assorted others.

Most of the news disseminated from the San Francisco Police scanner, including some pretty unbelievable accounts of violence and even a riot map based on Tweets. The kind of violence SF folk aren’t used to hearing about unless it’s news from LA.

Needless to say, Twitter is also the place to go to hashtag-surf for riot comedy. Here’s are the top 7 Tweet comedians..
